Plot
Nate Busko spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past. Tired of being thrown from one host family to another, he now lives in his car, eats corn on the cob, and uses his workouts to shower. By nightfall, he couldn’t be more different from the confident, resourceful image of school. Alone, he’s haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from the past. Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher facing his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talent and his need for attention and guidance where no other teacher is, and decides to help him. But in a surprising twist, Nate is arrested in the middle of class and taken away in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only arranges bail, but also agrees to welcome him into his home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do whatever it takes to help his struggling student. But the question is: can you really help someone if you are not willing to help yourself?
